sigh. not good

i was soooo excited to see "where the wild things are..." and after seeing this trailer... i think it's gonna FLOP. this looks soooooo fucking stupid.

everytime i see this movie poster, i see the word: obese and not obsess. which makes me giggle cause i think this movie poster is an epic FAIL.

it is very cheesy and very tyler perry. that screams home made budget movie. oh well.

one of these days i'll watch dream girls and i'll let you know if i change my mind on her acting abilities.

what's happening???

phillip and i went to see THE HAPPENING tuesday night.

this movie is SO WEIRD. i enjoyed it though... but the entire time, i kept leaning over to phillip and saying "this is soooo weird!"

it is very much the same style as LADY IN THE WATER.

i think the sucky thing is that because of THE SIXTH SENSE, UNBREAKABLE, SIGNS, AND HE VILLAGE, people are expecting a twist/surprise ending in all this movies. do you know how difficult that shite is to make up?

i thought LADY IN THE WATER was good. not great. my top three are THE VILLAGE, THE SIXTH SENSE, and UNBREAKABLE.

marky mark is not good in this movie. his portrayal of a biology teacher was pretty bad. the script must have been written awhile back because one of the first things they talk about in biology class is the disappearance of the honey bees. i think they've figured out why there is CCD, colony collapse disorder. it's overworked bees, pesticides, and fugus.

secondly, i have never seen a movie where john leguizamo was bad... until THE HAPPENING. he's so weird in this movie! and he looks terribly old.

but the worst actress award goes to zooey deschanel. i have never really liked her in anything i have ever seen. i didn't like her THE GOOD GIRL, WEEDS, ALMOST FAMOUS, HITCH-HIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, and ELF. i will say that i didn't mind her in FAILURE TO LAUNCH. oh my gosh, i've seen way too many movies with her in it!

her wide-eyed acting with that sorta quirky pausing while acting is reminiscent of jeff goldblum, but not quite.

the script is a little ridic. an army guy in the movie freaks out and the only thing he can say in an R rated movie is "cheese and crackers!"

this movie isn't epic. it's definitely rentable.

sex and the city: the movie

so after the death of my beloved houdini, i took a shower and thought that maybe going to see the sex and the city movie would make me feel better.

i was right. i cried several times throughout the movie and i laughed several times throughout the movie.

it definitely made me miss new york city and i am even more close to samantha's character since she moved to los angeles and got fat. all that i'm missing is the next door neighbor with a giant uncut penis.

i highly recommend the movie to anyone whos'... well, anyone.

speed racer



phillip and i went to go see speed racer last night.

it was an insane visual mindfuck.

we both enjoyed it. i think i probably enjoyed it more cause it was just COLOR COLOR COLOR. it was awesome. i absolutely loved it.

i didn't know anything about the cartoon so i didn't know the characters or the plot. everything in the movie is fake. it doesn't try to be realistic like the matrix trilogy. i definitely think it was shot all on a sound stage, like sky captain.

i definitely recommend watching speed racer... and if you really want to enjoy it, get high first.

this documentary is INSANE. i remember hearing about it when i was in nyc and it was advertised all over the subway trains. i found it at block buster for five dollars so i bought it. we all watched it as a group and we were freaking out!

it definitely says a lot about how there really aren't any normal families in this world.

SHADOWBOXER - it's like... if the crying game and mr. and mrs. smith and the golden girls had a menage trois. the cast in weird. cuba gooding jr and helen mirren are assassins as well as lovers. the sex scenes are off the hook INSANE. visually, it's one of the most luscious gorgeous modern day thriller i have seen. there's a poor-man's angelina jolie actress in it as well as a zebra. yeah. right?

PIRAHNA - yeah, the 70's classic. it's great!

DEATH RACE 2000 - yeah, corman.... it's great!

I KNOW WHO KILLED ME - hahahahahahaha. bad but fun to watch. i am now sorta thinking that lindsay lohan's peak was mean girls. she's insanely bad, but funny in this movie. the entire time i was watching this movie, i was like, "is that juliette binoche? oh my god, it is juliette binoche.... what the fuck is juliette binoche doing in this movie???" definitely a good fun watch with the friends. she's not a bad pole dancer....

10,000 B.C. - oh my god. it’s so bad... it’s not worthy of being called bad. the worst special effects EVER. as bad as DRAGON WARS... which is the first time, i fell asleep before the halfway mark... and i didn’t even care.

ZODIAC - interesting. i recommend it. it’s a true life mystery. the only unbelievable part of the movie is that jake gyllenhaal is a father of two.

NANNIE DIARIES - cute. laura linney is great. scarjo is also pretty good. the ending is a little cheezy. actually, the more i think about it.. it’s the same plot as THE DEVIL’S WEAR PRADA... equal amount of prada in both movies.

SWEENEY TODD (johnny depp) - bad. boring. stupid. dumb. pretty art direction.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN - good. not great. a good watch. cinematography is very self-aware. javier bardem should have been nominated as best actor, not supporting actor... but then, he wouldn’t win.

I KNOW WHO KILLED ME - damn it. the dvd i bought is scratched and won’t go past the title credits. DAMN IT TIMES TWO.

my friend just lent me ghost in the shell 1 & 2 and while watching the second one... i realized that there’s some idea borrowing back and forth.... most notably... the robots.

chris cunningham’s video for bjork’s song is amazing. since then, i’ve seen it on i-robot and some vodka ads.... and then when i watched i am legend... the zombies in that also looked like the same robots except with skin. not too inventive... oh well.

you can fast forward to about 4:30 seconds into it when they finally go visit a crime lab for robots i think... and then the woman who talks is haraway... which i believe is based after philosopher donna haraway who writes about cyborgs, anamatrons, gender issues and other crazy interesting stuff. you can def youtube her if you’re interested.
